Crafts with Monkey: Easter Egg Heads and Painted Pots - 03/26/2013

Throughout the month of March, Monkey and I have tried to do some Easter-themed craft projects between school, work, baby, and everything else (don't look at my house right now- something has to give!). We managed to do two projects, with varying results. The first project we tried were Easter Egg Heads. I had seen this project somewhere (most likely on Pinterest. I have no creativity of my own these days), and thought it was really cute. We saved the shells from some eggs and then drew some faces on them. We used watercolor markers, which turns out, was not the best idea ever. When we added water to the eggs, the marker washed off, and after being in the sun for a week or so, the remaining marker faded. After drawing faces, we filled the eggs with dirt and planted some Chia seeds. Then we waited. The seeds did not grow. Finally, I went to the store and bought some regular grass seeds. We planted them, and had better, but not perfect, results. I think our egg people are hair-challenged. Two of the eggs didn't even grow any hair at all.  Our second project was painted pots. This was simply a project box that I picked up at Target. It came with three little ceramic pots, some paint, and some stickers. I have really liked these little seasonal craft kits from Target. They seem like good quality for the price. I had wanted to buy the cake pop chick kit, but it was like $10 and the tray for cooking the cake into balls was like $20, so I thought that was too much for a whim p...
